Sports Premium

The government provides additional funding each year to improve provision of physical educational and sport in primary schools.  This year, our total grant is £17,800

At New Horizons Primary School,  we pride ourselves on being a happy and healthy place to learn.  We used the icon Paddington Bear to remind us to make responsible choices about our life decisions, health and well being.

The school uses its sports’ premium funding to employ specialist coaches from Portsmouth Schools Partnership to provide high quality PE lessons for children.  Teachers observe these lessons as part of their on-going training to develop skills necessary to deliver high quality PE lessons in the future.

In addition, Portsmouth Schools Partnership run after school clubs to encourage children to take up physical activity.  All children’s sporting achievements, whether in school or out of school, are celebrated in whole school assemblies to encourage and nurture other children to participate in sport.
