Early years become detectives to learn about why a spaceship crash-landed in our playground

Children at New Horizons Primary School started their first week of the new term surprised to see a spaceship crash-landed in their playground.

Early years children at the school have been spending their week as detectives to understand what happened over the half term while the school was empty.

Together, they have been discussing ideas on what may have happened and why the spaceship landed where it did.

The spaceship crash-landing has been the hook for the ‘Toy Story’ topic currently being taught in early years.

On closer inspection, the children found Buzz Lightyear inside and have decided to work as a team to get him back home to space by finding out all about the different planets in our solar system.

The children have been working throughout this week with their teachers to build a new spaceship to help get Buzz home. It has been wonderful to see the creative imagination of our children at work!
